Carsten joined NGT Biopharma Consultants after his retirement from Roche at the end of 2022 and he is an expert on our Pediatric Center of Excellence team. His research interests include pediatric and geriatric drug development, drug delivery of poorly soluble drugs and early phase drug development topics. Carsten most recently led the pediatric formulation working group at Roche from 2014 until he retired from Roche.
Carsten has also organized several APV courses as a member of the drug delivery focus group. APV is the independent, international and interdisciplinary scientific organisation focusing on pharmaceutical technology and industrial pharmacy. In addition, he has authored or co-authored numerous publications, given many presentations, and has also filed patents related to his research interest areas.
Carsten has over 30 years of experience in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, including 10 years at Hoffmann La Roche in Basel/Switzerland, 5 years at Novartis (Basel), and 7 years at Lilly Forschung in Hamburg/Germany. Throughout his career, he has led formulation development teams that successfully commercialized several global products and progressed multiple early and mid-stage new chemical entities into clinical studies.
Carsten received his degree in Pharmacy at the Technical University in Braunschweig/Germany and then worked as a retail pharmacist before getting his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Philipps University in Marburg/Germany.
