Paolo Rampichini, BE, MBA — Global Supply Chain
Paolo is an accomplished supply chain executive with 34 years of experience, including 25 years dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry. His expertise spans sourcing, planning, logistics, and supply chain systems within both manufacturing and commercial environments. Paolo has successfully led operations and programs on both local and global scales.
Paolo began his pharmaceutical career in 1999 at Roche Pharma Italy as Supply Chain and Procurement Director of the Oral Solid Dose Manufacturing CoE, overseeing the scale-up of a plant, securing EMA and FDA approvals, and building global planning, procurement, and logistics capabilities. He also led regional projects to implement SAP, ERP, and APO planning systems.
In 2008, Paolo joined Roche HQ in Basel, leading the supply chain integration with Genentech and later becoming Head of Global Supply Chain Small Molecules, overseeing network planning and technical transfers across nine drug product and drug substance sites. In 2014, he moved to Singapore as head of APAC Supply Chain (17 countries), enhancing logistics (e.g., serialization, temperature control), establishing a packaging hub, implementing S&OP processes, and renegotiating regional distribution contracts.
In 2019, Paolo joined Biocon Biologics (Bangalore) as Alliance Manager, overseeing partnerships, strategic governance, and an Operational Excellence program to enhance manufacturing and quality efficiency.
In 2021, Paolo began a supply chain consulting career in London, supporting global planning transformations for CSL Seqirus and AstraZeneca. In February 2024, he relocated to Chicago and founded SmartOpsUs Inc., a supply chain consulting firm. Most recently, Paolo has joined NGT BioPharma Consultants as Head Global Supply Chain.
