Paolo is a supply chain executive with 34 years of experience, including 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry. His expertise includes sourcing, planning, logistics, and supply chain systems, while working in both manufacturing and commercial settings at local and global levels.
Paolo began his pharmaceutical career in 1999 at Roche Pharma Italy (Milan) as the Supply Chain and Procurement Director for the new Oral Solids Manufacturing Centre of Excellence, co-leading the plant’s scale-up and the acquisition of EMA and FDA approvals. He also developed the planning, procurement, and logistics teams and capabilities to position the site as a global supplier.
In 2008, Paolo joined Roche HQ in Basel, Switzerland, where he initially led the integration of supply chain systems following the acquisition of Genentech. He later assumed the role of Head of Global Supply Chain for Small Molecules, overseeing network supply planning and technical transfers for nine (9) drug product and drug substance sites. In 2014, he relocated to Singapore to become the head of Roche’s APAC supply chain, managing operations across 17 countries while being part of both the APAC commercial leadership team and the Global Supply Chain leadership team. In this role, he developed advanced logistics capabilities among APAC affiliates, such as serialization and temperature-controlled supply chains, established a new packaging hub in Singapore, implemented a rigorous Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process in key countries, and renegotiated regional distribution contracts.
In 2019 he left Roche and joined Biocon Biologics, (Bangalore), as Alliance Manager, in charge of establishing and evolving collaboration agreements with partners, running alliance governance at strategic and operational level and leading an Operational Excellence program to improve Manufacturing and Quality output and efficiency.
In 2021 he started a supply chain consulting career in London, UK having CSL Seqirus (vaccines) and AstraZeneca as key clients to support Global Planning Transformations (e.g. introduction of Kinaxis as planning system) and on-going maintenance and governance of ERP and logistics systems.
In Feb 2024 he relocated to Chicago, US and opened the Supply Chain Consulting company while taking on a Global Supply Chain leadership role at NGT BioPharma Consultants
